BSGE Lady Sting refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against American Studies, recording a 12-1 victory on Tuesday at Big Bush Park on Tuesday, May 6th.
With six runs in the first three innings, BSGE Lady Sting left no doubt about the eventual outcome.
A single by Nina Don, and a solo home run by Claire Bergerson during the first inning supplied the early offense for BSGE Lady Sting .
Lauren Katzenstein racked up three RBIs on two hits for BSGE Lady Sting . She singled in the third inning and homered in the fourth inning.
American Studies couldn’t get anything going as long as Claire was in the circle. Bergerson gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out eight during her five innings of work.
Humphrey took the loss for American Studies. She allowed 12 runs in 4 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out seven.
BSGE Lady Sting added three more runs in the bottom of the third. A single by Lauren ignited the offense scoring Angelica Benares. That was followed up by Olivia Witting‘s single, scoring Claire and Lauren .
BSGE Lady Sting piled on four more runs in the bottom of the fifth. The game ended in mercy fashion on a walk off bases loaded double by Claire giving BSGE Lady Sting all the runs they would need to secure the victory.
