Jamaica High School (JHS) was unable to fight back from the hole it dug itself into against BSGE Lady Sting, and JHS lost 6-4 to BSGE Lady Sting after falling behind by five runs in the fourth inning on Wednesday, April 29th.
JHS scored three runs in the sixth but couldn’t draw even.
Claire Bergerson was solid at the plate for BSGE. Bergerson went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. She doubled in the third inning and singled in the first and seventh innings.
Pitcher Emily Costa worked out of several tricky spots for Lady Sting. She pitched five innings and allowed two earned runs on four hits. Costa was relieved by Bergerson in the sixth who helped get BSGE out of a tough situation. Bergerson faced her toughest situation in the seventh inning with runners on second and third with no outs but was aided by a double play line drive hit to Shortstop Nina Dom.
BSGE Lady Sting never surrendered the lead after the third inning, scoring two runs on a two-run error.
