Queens Vocational scored two runs in the first to jump out to an early 2-0 lead. Both runners reached base on dropped third strikes and eventually scored on fielding errors.
BSGE came back in the bottom half of the first scoring four runs on an RBI double by Emily Costa, a two-run single by Laura Agosta, a bases loaded walk. With a 4-2 lead, BSGE never looked back.
Costa racked up three RBIs on three hits for BSGE Lady Sting.
Claire Bergerson kept contact to a minimum, striking out 10 Queens Vocational batters. Bergerson allowed no earned runs on two hits and one walk over five innings.
BSGE Lady Sting tacked on another four runs in the third. Bergerson’s single got things going, bringing home Nina Don. That was followed up by Costa’s triple, scoring Beatriz Benares and Rakia Islam.
BSGE Lady Sting added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Jamie Carroll started the inning with a single, scoring Islam. The game ended with a bases loaded, two out double by Kara Fallon. With a 10 run lead at that point, the game was over.
Queens Vocational’s pitcher, Guerrero was charged with the loss. She allowed 12 runs in five innings, walked 11 and struck out four.
BSGE improved to a 12-0 record overall and 8-0 in league play.
