An awesome effort by Nina Don lifted BSGE Lady Sting to a 21-8 win in six innings over Long Island City on Thursday at Long Island City.
Don racked up six RBIs on four hits for BSGE Lady Sting. She tripled in the third inning, singled in the fourth inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and homered in the sixth inning.
Each team blasted the other’s pitching, and there were 29 total runs and 24 hits during the game.
BSGE Lady Sting beat Long Island City thanks to 18 hits, including seven extra base hits. BSGE Lady Sting scored nine runs in the third on BSGE Lady Sting scored in the third on a single by Claire Bergerson, a two-run single by Laura Agosta, an RBI single by Angelica Benares, a two-run triple by Don, an error, an RBI double by Bergerson, and an error.
Bergerson got the win for BSGE Lady Sting despite allowing eight runs over six innings. She struck out 10, walked four and surrendered six hits.
At the plate Bergerson went five for five at the plate with four runs scored.
Second baseman Laura Agosto drove in four runs on two hits.
BSGE Lady Sting easily handled Long Island City pitching as six hitters combined for 17 hits, 14 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
Meggan Rosa took the loss for Long Island City. She allowed 21 runs in six innings, walked seven and struck out seven.
BSGE Lady Sting built upon its lead with five runs in the fifth. A wild pitch scored Bergerson to get BSGE Lady Sting on the board in the inning. That was followed up by Agosta’s double, plating Jamie Carroll and Emily Costa.
BSGE Lady Sting have a 15-1 record and have clinched first place in the Queens B1 division.
