An outstanding effort by Claire Bergerson lifted Lady Sting Softball to a 20-0 win in four innings over Young Women’s Leadership on Tuesday, March 29th, at Big Bush Park.
Bergerson blasted two home runs for Lady Sting Softball. Bergerson went 3-4 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Bergerson homered twice in the second inning.
The biggest inning for Lady Sting Softball was the second. In the inning Lady Sting Softball scored 15 runs. Lady Sting Softball scored in the second on a wild pitch, a two-run single by Rakia Islam, a two-run single by Nina Don, a two-run home run by Emily Costa, a solo home run by Bergerson, an RBI single by Peyton Heron, an RBI single by Marika Cygert, a fielder’s choice, a two-run triple by Costa, and a two-run home run by Bergerson.
Bergerson got the win for Lady Sting Softball. She tossed four innings of shutout ball. She struck out 12, walked none and surrendered one hit.
Lady Sting Softball easily handled Young Womens Leadership pitching as seven hitters combined for 18 hits, 17 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
Lady Sting Softball went up for good in the first.
BSGE Lady Sting is currently 1-0 in regular season play after going 4-2-1 in preseason scrimmages. The next game on the schedule is Thursday, March 31st, against Long Island City High School at 4pm at Long Island City High School.
