Over the summer, many people went on vacation and traveled to different places outside of NYC. People traveled to a different place so they could experience new opportunities that will mean a lot to them and remain a remarkable experience.
Throughout the programs at BSGE, Global Glimpse, students went to the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is one of the countries in North America which resides on the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean Sea.
The Dominican Republic is mainly known for its beautiful beaches, resorts, and golfing. It also has the tallest Caribbean Mountain, Pico Durante. It has many Spanish-influenced landmarks like the Gothic Catedral Primada de America.
The Glimpsers had so much fun in the Dominican Republic! One of the leaders who went on the trip, Ms. Hinson stated “We were able to see the different areas of the Dominican Republic and meet different people and enjoy food!” So many students also were able to learn about the history of the country. One of the students mentions “l learned about the Dominican history, past rulers, the military importances and significance to the people and why they’re everywhere, and about Haiti’s ongoing immigration crisis and the inequality they face due to race.”
While there are some struggles that still remain in the country, the Dominican Republic is definitely one of the most recommended countries to travel to for the summer. Many people got to make new friends in the country itself as well. One of the members stated, “We even got to play baseball with the Dominican Republic students!” Many people will recommend going to the country for its scenery, food, and views!
There are also plenty of cities that can be visited mainly for their views. For example, France is known for its capital, Paris. Paris is known to have the best views for vacations like the Eiffel Tower. It also has its café culture and designer boutiques which are known to be the best parts of Paris.
One of the students stated that “Paris lives up to its hype: A city with unbelievable food and culture, plus stunning views everywhere you turn,” highlighting Paris’ beauty itself and how it’s famous for traveling.
London is also known to be one of the best travel destinations in the world. It is the capital of England. It has world-class culture, fashion, music, and food.
One of the students states, “I recommend it to anyone from the US – we speak the same language, so it’s extremely easy to ‘get your feet wet’ in the adventure that is overseas travel.” The attractions of London include the Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.
Overall, there are endless possible travel opportunities that people can go for in the summer, beyond the places discussed above. Those opportunities will make sure everyone will have a good time while going there.
