Black Adam

The new Black Adam movie is one that has garnered critical acclaim along with quite a bit of negativity from certain viewers. The move is one that divides the hundreds of thousands that have seen it. Perhaps it is this division that has led to it’s enormous box office success as the movie has grossed over 300 million since its debut.

Critics of the movie point towards it’s overly generic plot as the movie does follow the tropes of the common day superhero film. Everything from the pacing to the short quippy humor is reminiscent of others of its genre. One senior could be quoted as saying “Dwayne the rock Johnson is the last thing this movie needed.” He went on to comment on how the actor is often “synonymous with generic low-effort box office cash grabs.” From all the interviews conducted there wasn’t a single comment on Johnson’s acting. When asked one senior remarked “It was what you would expect. It’s the rock.” Most seem to have a problem with the lack of creativity behind the movie as the interviewees expressed a minimal level of excitement regarding the film.

Additionally, there were numerous plot holes in the movie that rendered many fans perplexed. One plot hole occurred at the beginning of the movie. Black Adam sustains his first injury during the conflict with the mercenaries. This rocket has eternium inside of it, leaving a scar on his chest. Eternium appeared to be Black Adam’s vulnerability as a result. However, Black Adam wakes up refreshed after taking a nap in Amon’s room in Adrianna’s apartment. He treats his wound by using his electric abilities.

Overall, it was difficult to find any true fans of the film in BSGE; however, there were some that defended the movie. One senior said, “Yes it is what you would expect but what I really expected from the movie was fun and that’s what I ended up having.” This rationale was common amongst others as well as there seemed to be a group of individuals who have different standards for films. Those in defense of the film did not find anything special about the movie yet they seemed to enjoy the movie regardless.
