The student council has been working to get some fun trips and events for students in BSGE. They have been trying to ask students their opinions on what to do for the next Town Hall, and what trips or in-school events that they want to host. The student council would love to hear everyone’s suggestions.
The student council has already planned trips such as ice-skating and going to museums. The 7th graders are already planning to go to the play ‘& Juliet’ with their ELA teacher, Ms. Klidonas. But the other grades are still going to museums and other places. Some students are asking the student council for end of year trips, such as Six Flags or even going to a soccer game.
The one problem that has been recurring over the years is fundraising. While there are a lot of fundraisers happening, it doesn’t seem like enough to have a big trip for all grades. If anyone has good suggestions on fundraisers, please let the student council know! It would be greatly appreciated.
The student council really depends on the money people use to buy snacks in the morning. Almost all of those funds go to trips. In the beginning of the year, donations and fundraisers helped support Field Day, which was a huge success. The teachers that lead the student council, Assistant Principal Shana and Ms. Mihalatos have been planning great events, such as throwing a big school-wide party for our amazing principal Doctor Page. They also were working on a therapy dog session, which has been going very well.
These are some of the things that you and your donations can do for the school. But smaller food sales such as the ones in the morning go directly to student trips for their grade. The students in the student council, such as those in 7th and 8th grades, have been trying to get donations that will help lower costs for tickets. The 7th grade is planning an ice skating trip at the World Ice Arena. The 8th graders are still thinking about some other trips that they want to plan. Look forward to seeing some morning bake sales!
The student council would greatly appreciate it if you could take part in donations. Some ways you can also help without using money is running stands in the morning. Since some kids aren’t able to make it to school so early, it would be a big help to the grades who need to fundraise. If you would like to participate in running one of the stands, contact AP Shana or Ms. Mihalatos.
